Roger L’Huillier has been a Catholic since his birth in November 1943, in Melbourne, Australia.
As a child he attended three different Catholic schools until his parents could no longer afford private schools. His final five years of schooling were spent at two different state secondary schools.
After leaving school, Roger took up an apprenticeship in January 1961 with the (now defunct) airline TAA (or as the opposition used to call it – Try Another Airline) and remained with them for nearly 25 years.
After that, he was mainly employed as a sales representative in the Blinds, Awnings and Security industry. He is now retired.
Roger’s journey of faith took on a new meaning in 1978 when he, his wife Joan, and their three and a half children moved northward from Victoria (Australia) to Caboolture, which was then a small country town in south-east Queensland.
In September 1978, Roger received personal prayer at a weekend retreat to set free the Holy Spirit whom he had received at Baptism. Shortly after this, he bought and actually read his first Bible and began to notice real changes in his life brought about by God’s grace. Particularly, he stopped swearing and lying. He also saw real answers to both his and his friends’ prayers. Roger soon became aware of how people’s lives could be dramatically changed for the better through personal prayer; especially a prayer for the Release of the Holy Spirit, coupled with a personal relationship with Jesus. His journey has taken many twists and turns, through Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Marriage Encounter and Cursillo, together with various Prayer, Bible Study, and Ministry Groups within the Catholic Church.
The feedback from Roger’s first two books, Catholics “Come Alive”, and Catholics “Come Alive” The Seminar, have been extremely positive and have proved to be of great benefit to his fellow Catholics.
His faith and life journey continues.
